GAPSA Leadership

Ludwig Zhao

Chair of Research Student Council

Ludwig Zhao is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in bioengineering. His research interest situates at the intersection between neuroscience and engineering: his current research is to explore different magnetic resonance imaging techniques to better understand human olfaction.

Since he joined Penn, he has always been an active GAPSA representative from his home school, SEAS, advocating and voicing concerns for his constituents, particularly research students. He is also deeply involved in the Graduate Student Engineering Group (GSEG) and The Graduate Association of Bioengineers (GABE), both as board members.

While he is not particularly into anything, he is curious about almost everything and remembers the most random facts. He is also very good at spotting cute local bars and speakeasies so he can bring all his friends (and you) over :)

Research Council represents research students (Ph.D., M.A. & M.S.) and voices their concerns; the Council also supports research students through individual grants and group funds. The major projects for the Council this year are the Ph.D. stipends, advisor-advisee relationship, and relocation stipends.
