GAPSA Leadership

Stephen Lee

Executive Vice President

Stephen is a 2nd year PhD student at the School of Engineering and Applied Science and a 2024 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in Bioengineering. His research focuses on splicing regulation of functional maturation in stem cell-derived pancreatic islets, among other topics. As EVP, he hopes to build upon initiatives he helped champion last year broadly related to student engagement, including a university-wide graduate student orientation, guidelines for graduate program handbooks, and an electronic voting system and orientation program for the General Assembly. Prior to his current role, he served as a representative in both the General Assembly and the Graduate Student Engineering Government, and as Recruitment Chair of the Graduate Association of Bioengineers. Stephen graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2017 with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry. Most recently, he worked at a small biotechnology company developing a time-domain protein sequencing instrument. When not in lab, he can likely be found at a Mets game (sorry Phils), a jazz club, or a post-rock concert.
